The Realme X50 Pro is 5G ready and features the top-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor. In terms of performance, this device is excellent for gaming as well as general productivity. Realme has also used high-speed RAM and storage, plus a 90Hz display, for a snappy overall experience. This is a mid-range flagship phone that truly can take on many of the much more expensive models in the market.

The X50 Pro 5G is available in two muted colour options and looks quite premium with its glass and metal body. However, the back is slippery and this phone is somewhat bulky and heavy. What you’ll notice first is the dual-camera cutout in the upper left corner of the screen.

The display is sharp and the speakers are surprisingly powerful. You get four rear cameras including a 2X optical zoom camera. We found photos to generally be very good, even ones shot with the lower-resolution wide-angle and zoom cameras. However, photos taken at night weren’t always great, and 4K video looked artificial.

Design
Being the flagship smartphone that the Realme X50 Pro is, it does adhere to some of the so-called “beauty standards” for the premium handsets of the handset market. You get a frosted back design that certainly distinguishes it from the rest of the flashy and vibrant Realme handsets. You may not be surprised to know that these do look a lot like the glass back we saw on the OnePlus 7T or the OnePlus 7 Pro last year with a matte-frosted glass back as OnePlus is also part of the BBK Group that owns Realme. That said, the similarity may not be too obvious due to the lack of same colour options. The Realme X50 Pro comes in Moss Green and Rust Red colour options and we got the former as our review unit.

Despite the new back, you do see traces of other Realme handsets on the Realme X50 Pro. You get a quad-camera setup on the top left corner and a Realme branding on the same side at the bottom. The company tried a little something new with its last flagship handset — Realme X2 Pro — that sports the logo at an unconventional place on the right side of where the camera ends. It was assumed that this was done for better visibility of the name of the brand and will also be seen on future handsets but with the X50 Pro, its back in the corner.
While the back will require a second look to know for sure that it is the flagship device from the company, the classification is easier from the front. Instead of the waterdrop notch that all Realme handsets sport, this device has a dual punch-hole selfie camera making it the first device from the company to offer a full-screen display.

As for what’s placed where, the volume rockers are placed on the left and the power button is placed on the right edge. The SIM card tray is placed at the bottom edge along with the USB Type-C charging port that is placed at the bottom and a mono speaker grille. The handset skips a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is a standard for flagship smartphones now.

Display
The Realme X50 Pro offers a 6.4-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a 20:9 aspect ratio and 92% screen-to-body ratio. As mentioned, Realme X50 Pro is the first device from the brand to offer a dual punch-hole camera. We were happy to see video streaming apps supporting the full-screen display instead of just disregarding the whole strip as we see in some of the other handsets till date.

As far as the viewing experience goes, the device will not disappoint you as it offers punchy colours even when it was not at the peak brightness levels. The sharp and vibrant colours on the display of the Realme X50 Pro make it quite congenial for binge-watching.

The display experience is further enhanced by the presence of the 90Hz refresh rate — also seen on the Realme X2 Pro — that just makes everything snappier.

Under the display settings, you get the usual customisations such as font, font size, display size, etc, You get the dark mode support and option to set the light effects for calls and notifications.
