The big change on the feature front is the inclusion of the H2 chip, the personalized spatial audio feature and improvements to the noise cancellation.

According to Apple, the new H2 chip enables a new Adaptive Transparency feature that reduces loud environmental noise for more comfortable listening. That’s something we’ve heard other earbuds using in the past, so it’s good to see Apple jumping on board.

That being said, we were hoping to hear more improvements to the audio quality – for example, a new audio codec – but, from the sounds of it, personalized spatial audio and the bass driver are the big new features there.

The release of iOS 15 in September 2021 also brought some new features to the original AirPods Pro, which will likely carry over to its sequel.
